096Vaccinated

posted by Joshua on August 11th, 2008

You can run away, watching the city lights fade
Like a summer breeze in the summer sky
Lanterns lighting the way of a willing heart
We’re willing but still falling behind
Your voice is the sweetest sound to me
Stop forgetting the hand you held
Or when dusk decided to sing our names
Along with the melody of its relaxing state
We’re a spun record, but it isn’t right
And people beg to turn it off, so we leave
A sharp, a flat, when they want the average key
Black notes on a hot summer’s day to feel a beat
Monotony is the glamour in today’s robot society
I don’t really have much to say, so I’ll forget your name
Moving right along, is it time to give it all away?
Say the word and the army will turn against the facts
Cheering blind as the light shines through their eyes
We’re so wise but we’re out of time to discuss who’s right
The truth, the fakes, they’re all the same to the geniuses of the day
Hop on board, the bandwagon holds another two
Scream tolerance as you pass it all by, turning the volume up
A poison route you have taken, its time to go, its time to leave
If they won’t listen, the cliff will end
We’ll wave hello
We’ll wave goodbye
We’ll wave as time decides to leave them clueless
Wondering what happened, wondering why
But as for us, we’re immune to this sickness
We’re vaccinated, igniting a cure for the broken hearted
Regardless of the wagon’s sway

095Forcing This

posted by Joshua on July 17th, 2008

Forcing this, I’ve decided that destiny will pass another way
No Galileo, fate will fail to find me company among the others
I’ll move from town to town searching for the girl waiting
Anxious eyes and a bright smile, the torturous state of being alone
The sight is beautiful, creativity in a multitude of flying colors
Only the blind would question the summary of this simple view
Lose an eye and gain perspective on this small town of one
Where the girls all laugh and the guys all leave to find a difference
Fact and fiction begin to blend together after years of disappointment
Close your eyes and listen to the sound of her voice
Singing your song, a melody of love that never occurred
Old poetry isn’t the same now that you’re not around
Nightmares in ancient pages of times when love connected
And we’re left reading and hoping, wishing and dreaming
To connect with a hope, a wish, a dream of the past
The last town and I’m out of these, so I’ll pretend to pass you by
But I’m holding your hand in my dreams tonight
And I’ll be back when I decide its my turn to make it
Yes, we’ll make it, and the stories of us will continue on

094Funeral Cry

posted by Joshua on July 8th, 2008

Silence in the darkest of spaces, the black appears rainbow colored
The fallacy ends with the movement, black on white, ink invades
Staining the purity of a written page, creativity in a fading motion
A suicide letter written for the love of the lost, vapor in the sunset
Whimsically breaking the heart of another in hopes of security
The sun will return but too late to save the angel failing to hope
A year will pass but the funeral will live on in the minds of those
Who loved for the sake of love rather than the love of praise
Two worlds collide and decide to love each other
So I’ll cling to you, or the thought of you, as the music fades
Drive there and back but you’re still gone. I remember you
You loved, but the sky was a pessimist in your dark eyes
The love of the fight, the love of the moment, yes, you loved
But you gave up, darling, and failed to win the hope of love
